Actually, I wish kudos for vendors that recognize we might have bigger screens. Let me explain. Since being fortunate enough to have a 17" screen on my PC, running at 1024x768 resolution, I am thankful to the folks at WRQ and Robelle whose software let's me take benefit of this to be more efficient. With Reflection, I can set my screen display to 45 lines rather than 24, and Qedit lets me set screen size for both jump and visual mode. Lengthen the window a bit (since I have a bigger desktop/workspace anyway), and the fonts appear the same size as in 24 line mode. Voila! I'm glad these folks didn't take the line (!) that 24 lines is a 'standard'. So I would like to encourage other vendors not to make 24 lines a fixed feature of their software. Use a JCW, an environment variable, a profile, anything. I certainly would like it if MPE :PRINT and :HELP could recognize my larger page size. Conversely, many vendors assume that screens have no (or should that be unlimited) pagelength, and don't pause output at all. Okay, I can scroll backwards later, but I would prefer if Query for example, when doing a REPORT to screen paused at the end of each (user-defined length) page. Anyway, just a public thanks, and a hint for other vendors. Cheers. ---- Jim "seMPEr" Wowchuk Internet: [log in to unmask] Vanguard Computer Services Compu$erve: 100036,106 _--_|\ Post: PO Box 18, North Ryde, NSW 2113 / \ Phone: +61 (2) 888-9688 \.--.__/ <---Sydney NSW Fax: +61 (2) 888-3056 v Australia
