In all fairness the paper and slides are clearly marked "For discussion only", so I *hope* this means that nothing yet is cast in concrete. However, the statement is clearly made that "The Micro Focus File Handler utilities..do not understand the internals of KSAM files". Only optionss offered are ways to move *away* from KSAM (i.e. our investment), and towards something which the new kid wants to play with. Likewise with respect to XLs, the paper states (somewhat tersely), "At this time the Micro Focus COBOL MPE/iX product does not support XL's". Doesn't sound to me like this is anything I'd be kidding about! What do y'all think out there - let's get some discussion going. Otherwise we might lose a lot of good things when HP *does* respond and start porting 3rd party C++ etc. Tony
