Subject: Reminder: HP 3000 Broadcast Creator: George STACHNIK / HP4700/M2 Dated: 04/10/95 at 1528. This is just a brief reminder that HP's next Technology Closeup (TCU) Broadcast is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, April 19th. Beginning at 9am (Pacific Time), this three hour broadcast will cover Performance Management and High Availability and the HP 3000. First Hour ========== We'll review some "performance basics", including a look at how you can use HP 3000 performance tools to diagnose CPU bottlenecks, Disk Bottle- necks and memory bottlenecks. We'll also look at some of the common causes of these bottlenecks, and take a close look at RAID disk arrays from a performance perspective. Second Hour =========== We'll begin exploring high availability by examining HP's hierarchy of high availability products. We'll explore a few of the "best practices" for managing basic HP 3000 systems for the best possible availability, particularly from the point of view of minimizing the time needed to recover from failures. Finally, we'll look at some of the "pro's and con's" of HP's products, and explore questions such as when to use RAID and when to use disk mirroring... Third Hour ========== We'll talk to some HP customers who have been able to use the HP 3000 in the most demanding high availability environments. We'll look at SharePlex/iX-NetBase, a joint effort of HP and Quest software, and look at two key ways this product can be used: 1) To create a disaster-tolerant environment, so that the business can survive even if one of its data centers is taken offline, or even destroyed. 2) To provide horizontal growth capabilities for the HP 3000 beyond those supported by single machines. As always, if you want to join us for this event, you need to register by calling the HP 3000 Customer Connection Hotline at 1-800-224-HP3K.
