A warning about this: I know one customer who launched an important
batch job, went out for a 30 minute snack, and came back to
see if the job had finished. A "showjob" didn't show the job running,
so he assumed everything was fine. So, he launched other jobs that
depended on the results of the first job. All ok?

Nope!

The system had failed during the first job, and AutoRestarted ...
effectively hiding the error from the operator.
Without AutoRestart, the operator would have come back to a dead system,
and quickly realized that a problem had occurred.

The moral is: you don't always want a system failure to immediately
dump and restart without your knowledge.

But...when you do, look into HP's AutoRestart/iX.
