I think that a buyer of a file system/rdbms frequenlty will rank a 3rd
party solution higher because often:
 
        a) it offers platform independance (read - to those which really
                                count)
        b) has a larger portfolio of available packages
        c) considered a tier 1/strategic platform by ISV's
        d) plenty of people/consultants who know the product
