It is interesting how many people evangelize
moving to a non-proprietary system
when (many times) these same users (not all!) buy a non-proprietary
chunk of hardware to run a non-proprietary operating system
to run their proprietary application they purchased
that uses a proprietary database management system.
 
I would think that if one REALLY does not want to get tied to a specific
vendor, they must use public domain application on a public domain
DBMS on a public domain OPSYS on a public domain box.
 
mmmmmmmmmmm... I wonder what I can find at the local flea market.
