I have no idea how heavy it is, only how heavy/big a : 947 is... ...I'm not sure you want a series 30... it is one of the slowest hp3000s ever built. I think it's slower than the initial 'Mighty-Mouse' i.e. series 37. A series 947(MPE/iX) has about 11 times faster CPU than series 37(MPE/V) - only talking pure CPU torque, nothing about i/o channels. Given that, I think you probably are talking about 15 times performance difference (if not 20) between these two. Also, you'd have to put up with the latest supported MPE/V release - which is not bad - but compared to the flexibility of the MPE/iX, ci programming etc., I think you'd much better off with a 947. I don't even know what's the latest OS release running on a series 30, I remember seeing one about 11 years ago. MPE/IV and R-MIT are things that come to mind but I might be wrong here... I'm sure someone will correct this one. If you want a series 30 for display or whatever reason other than running todays applications, go for it. If you want performance and all the goodies of today, get an MPE/iX box... Best regards, :-) Eero Laurila - HP CSY Networking lab. - My opinions are just that!
