Does this mean you've added LAN Workplace for DOS' WINSOCK.DLL to a LWP for OS/2 PC? This is probably the cause of your problems. I asked Novell in Jan '94 if they planned to add Winsock compatibility to LWP for OS/2 since IBM and FTP do it. Their answer then was that they had no plans to do that.
