Long-time-no-see, Rich. I so missed catching up with you during the NASAA
meeting here in Baltimore in December. However, I'm contacting you to ask
your help spreading the word about a forum we're convening this spring in
your region.

As you know only too well, the arts are vitally important in small
communities, playing significant roles in attracting visitors, recruiting
industry, expanding existing industry and enhancing quality of life. The
League of Historic American Theatres would very much appreciate your help
notifying theatre managers, presenters and others in small communities in
Tennessee about a forum that we're presenting with the Newberry Opera House,
April 13-15, 2008 in Newberry, SC, entitled Historic Theatres in Small
Communities:  Catalysts for Economic Revitalization.

Designed by historic theatre professionals for engaging their peers, this
forum includes case studies, peer discussions and practical exercises for
positioning historic theatres as catalysts for economic and cultural
development in small cities and towns, including:

*	Restoration from passion to implementation with professional
partners
*	Economic development from making the case to delivering significant
impact
*	Creative financing fro restoration and operation
*	Programming, including success strategies for presenting in small
communities
*	Community engagement
*	Recruiting and retaining volunteers
*	Best practices in theatre programming and operations, including
technical production, front-of-house and box office.

Session presenters include the executive director, chairman of the board and
other board and staff members of the Newberry Opera House as well as
Charles Cosler, theatre consultant; Ron Geyer, architect; Margaret Pope,
bond attorney; Stephen Barefoot, presenter and founder of North Carolina
Presenters; Paul Bartz, president, Windwood Theatricals; Donna Heins, former
director, Playmakers Rep in Chapel Hill, NC; Wayne Adams, Newberry County
Commissioner, Susie Surkamer, Executive Director, South Carolina Arts
Council; Walton Mc Leod, State Representative, J. Thomas Johnson, banker;
and Chris Pritchard, Trucast.

More information about this forum, as well as online registration is
available on the League's web site:
http://www.lhat.org/pdf/LHAT_Newberry_Seminar_Brochure2.pd

Please don't hesitate to contact me, if you need additional information
about the League of Historic American Theatres or this historic theatre
forum.

Thanks in advance, Rich, for your help spreading the word about this special
offering!
