Ray, I have the same issue, my current employer would not cover the GHRUG expense either, and I am on the GHRUG BOD. I took a vacation day to attend. But a sudden death in the family kept me from making it this year. I wish I could have been there. From what I heard the turn out was not that good. I think the problem is exactly as you stated. The employers (in the past) always coved the cost, and now (in many cases) they don't. So tell me 3000-L, why didn't you attend? Is it the fact that current technologies can takes us to the online virtual conference for a fraction of the cost? Is it because organizations no loner want to spend the money on airfare, and hotels to attend a real conference? I notice that attendance at other "REAL" conferences is good, like Sun's Java world, and Microsoft events. Is it the name? We can change it? Should we shut it down? The Greater Houston Regional Users Group has a reputation of being an HP centric group and represents users of HPUX and MPE, and furthermore, only users that reside within the regional area of Houston Texas. That is not true anymore. My boss doesn't want to cover the cost of attending the GHRUG conference, commenting "We don't use HP products anymore. So why do you want to go there?", and my argument is that it is not just an HP-3000 conference, it's a unique, non-bias, multi-vendor, multi-platform, nationwide conference. Which was not a good argument this year because that is exactly what we called it, the HP-3000 Conference. Suggestions anyone, Michael Anderson Membership Chairman, Greater Houston Regional Users Group. >>> Ray Shahan <[log in to unmask]> 1/5/2007 8:21 am >>> Hi Alfredo, <<"Do you have Adager, Ray?" Umm, no, we have another product (that was here when I got here). 8-) >> "Had you attended the recent GHRUG meeting in Houston, you would have enjoyed my mini-dissertation on the crucial difference between "the" and "a". We missed you there." I missed being GHRUG, but it was something I would have to have paid for myself (airfare, hotel, time-off-work, everything), and I just couldn't swing it. Maybe next year? As always, thanks for you offer to help, and have a great weekend! The key [did I really write this?] to the solution is the word "hash". Do you have Adager, Ray? If you do, I have "a" good (i.e., an "a" as in "Adager") solution for you that will NOT "defeat Query" (and will not defeat ANY standard accessor, in fact). Had you attended the recent GHRUG meeting in Houston, you would have enjoyed my mini-dissertation on the crucial difference between "the" and "a". We missed you there.
