This Thursday, March 18, at 10:50 a.m., the Music Department composition
class will host guest composer James Carlson. Dr. Carlson will present
recorded performances and introductory comments for some of his musical
works. He has had performances in various festivals and other venues around
the United States, and in Sweden and Belgium. He has composed several works
for dance theatre companies as well as concert music.

Dr. Carlson is currently Visiting Assistant Prof. at the University of the
South at Sewanee, and is an adjunct faculty member at UT-Knoxville. He
received his training at Duke University, the New England Conservatory, and
Central Washington University.

Dr. Carlson's presentation will be held in Fine Arts Center room 210, from
10:50 to 12:05. Visitors are welcome.
