No one would work for the place because they treated their employees so bad.
The free market solved the problem.  People essentially voted with their
feet.

Tim - I think this answer only works when there is realistic
competition.  If the nearest competitor is 3 states away, it is
just not feasable to move there until things get absolutly
intolerable.

Unions are a form of free market also, as long as there is no
compulsion to join the union.
