The cork is certainly compressible. But what exactly would happen?

Interesting. I suspect the pressure exerted by the bubbles, oops, beads,
would be surprisingly low. So the cork would be forced into the bottle. And
nothing would happen at all.

And how would  you light the candles and whisper in her ear at depth,
anyway?
