Hello Folks, RE: SR 8606286850 - Enhancement: Implement RFC 2873 to prevent IP precedence change causing RESET The HP-e3k TCP/IP transport has been enhanced to support the work-in-progress "proposed" RFC 2873 which recommends ignoring IP precedence changes in the TCP/IP of the end host systems. This change supports the CISCO routers modification of the IP precedence fields once a connection is established for what is known by CISCO as a "QoS environment". The hp-e3K as per "standard" RFC 793 completes the SYN/SYN-ACK/ACK three-way handshake following the "standard" RFC 793 rules for accepting a IP precedence change and replying with a modified IP precedence in a SYN-ACK or ACK packet. Once the three-way TCP/IP handshake is complete, the hp-e3k follows the "proposed" RFC 2873 rules and ignores any further IP precedence change on the TCP/IP connection. This enhancement to TCP/IP on the HP-e3k is currently only available as a "Site Specific" patch for 7.0 as this is the only O.S. we have customers committed to testing. We will build a 7.5 patch with this enhancement after successful testing on 7.0 or possibly earlier if we have other customers request to test this enhancement. If you are interested in testing this enhancement, please contact the HP-RC and request enhancement SR 8606286850 for "RFC 2873".
