(not) anyone know what's wrong? - d donna, I'm not sure you're doing an ll on the same thing both times. First ll shows a directory and the second shows a file. Could it be a symlink? Try logging in as mgr.nsd and doing: sh -L cd .. ll ./USERVOL/ ...and I bet you'll get the same results as from MANAGER.SYS.
