No Joy with VOLUTIL :-(... A few days ago I configured several drives and added them to the system volume set. After some unintended cable swapping on the back of the scsi rack :-), my drives are in "UNKNOWN" state, but the volume names still appear to be allocated. Here's a DSTAT showing the state of the drives: dstat all LDEV-TYPE STATUS VOLUME VOLUME SET - GEN ---------- ------- ---------------------------------- 1-C2490AM MASTER MEMBER1 MPEXL_SYSTEM_VOLUME_SET-0 11-ST32171N MEMBER MEMBER2 MPEXL_SYSTEM_VOLUME_SET-0 12-ST32550W UNKNOWN 13-ST32171N UNKNOWN 14-ST32171N UNKNOWN 15-ST32171W UNKNOWN 16-ST32171N UNKNOWN 17-ST32171N UNKNOWN 18-ST32171N UNKNOWN Here's my "FUN" with VOLUTIL: volutil: initvol MPEXL_SYSTEM_VOLUME_SET:member3 12 *Verify: Initialize new member volume MPEXL_SYSTEM_VOLUME_SET:MEMBER3 on ldev 12 [Y/N] ?y *Error: Subsys 163, Info: -10. And here's what I think shows part of the problem: volutil: showset MPEXL_SYSTEM_VOLUME_SET volumes Volume name: Index: ----------- ----- MEMBER1 1 MEMBER3 2 MEMBER4 3 MEMBER5 4 MEMBER6 5 MEMBER7 6 MEMBER8 7 MEMBER9 8 MEMBER2 9 I doesn't want me to re-use these volume names? Any clues how to get rid of them?
