Phil: Please give me a call. We have a tool Quark+ that will compress multiple files into a single file. HP uses the product to do software distribution internally. Our customers use the tool to wrap up files to transport over a network and archiving and version control. We can download it and you can give it a shot. John C. I've created a monster(PURGE maximum files) I've created a monster. We've created on online report archiving system, which compresses a file into a GROUP and writes a record of it into a DB.(Simple Stuff). It's been running great now for about 6 months. However, as of late performace of the machine has went to Hell and the system has been crashing from time-to-time. HP reviewed our Memory dump and informed us that we've reached a maximum of 70,000 files within a single group. We've idenfified 40,000 files to purge. However the system crashes whenever we attempt to purge files from this. Unfortunately, this is a 24 x 7 production machine, with peek usage around 300+ users. Things that we have tried: * STORE with purge option(Crashed) * PURGE in a command file(Crashed) * PURGE in a JOB(Crashed) Any ideas? Can something be done within HFS?
