A little less drastic than a reboot (but only a little), you can stop all network services (using NSCONTROL STOP followed by NETCONTROL STOP). This *will* take down all your network-connected users (i.e. those logged on through NS/VT, not DTC connections). If that doesn't kill it, well, you're that much closer to rebooting anyway. If it *does* kill it, you can bring the network back up and let everyone back on without the additional downtime of a reboot. I learned this while doing some maintenance work. I inadvertently stopped network services before aborting the FTPMON job. Now if I skip that ABORTJOB step I know the dying network will take it down for me anyway.
