Thanks to all for your fast replies. We don't have our own DNS, we use our ISP's one to validate/resolve email addresses. Looks as if we are going to have to use DNS Bind/iX on the 3000 and pass unknown requests to our ISP's DNS. We've commented out the nameserver entries in RESLVCNF file and have turned off NetMail until Bind/iX is up and running. At the moment we are only using NetMail as a backup for our M$ mail server so that's OK. Special thanks go to: Ted (Ashton) for reminding me that most HP manuals are available online. Rich (Roemer) for a print of the resolv.conf man page from his U*ix box. Couldn't find the Posix one on our 3000, wonder where it is? regards, +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ |Robert W.Mills (Systems Development Manager) | |Windsong Services, St. Mary Cray, ENGLAND | |Tel : +44 (0)1689 870622 x3005 | |Fax : +44 (0)1689 899026 | |Email: [log in to unmask] | +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ * To join/leave the list, search archives, change list settings, * * etc., please visit http://raven.utc.edu/archives/hp3000-l.html *
