Since several people have now helpfully noted the above good advice via private email. I concur. Didn't end up being a good option for me last night, since we suffered one of our rare system HALTs (SYSTEM ABORT 1047). Computer room is about 150 yards from my desk, and I do not have easy access to my email from the computer room. I called while I rebooted. SIDEBAR: Initial DUMP analysis says we had the same rare event happen to us as has happened to at least a few other sites. Reference SR 5003-404-228. HP had in fact already produced a patch that they thought fixed this problem (and our 959 already had that patch installed; as part of the PP6 update). After other sites that had the problem put in this patch, the problem did not reoccur for them; so HP thought all was well...... well: Now RC says it looks like there are other variants of this problem that previous patch does NOT fix; apparently the other sites that did install the patch after having the problem just got lucky; i.e.: It really is a rare event.... I just mailed HP the entire 940K+ sector dump on DDS. They are going to look at it while I am out of town (and out of email range) until 30 May. If they find anything additional of interest I will pass it on when I get back... Ken Sletten
