It has come to our attention that some users may have received unauthorized Duo Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) pushes. We would like to remind all employees about how to keep your account secure with 2FA:

Review 2FA pushes before approving them: If you receive a notification from Duo, you can open the application and review where the request is coming from. If you do not recognize the location, do not approve that request. Instead, call the UTC Help Desk at (423)425-4000 to alert them of this activity. They will assist you in resetting your password.

Do not approve 2FA pushes you did not request: If you receive a 2FA push notification that you did not initiate, do not approve it. This could indicate unauthorized access to your account.

Report any unusual activity: If you notice repeated unwarranted 2FA pushes or any other suspicious account activity, please contact the Help Desk. As a reminder, report suspicious emails to [log in to unmask] or check https://phishbowl.utc.edu for updated phishing attempts.

Remember: Approving a Duo push notification you did not initiate may grant an attacker access to your account and data.

For any questions or concerns regarding 2FA, your account, or other security-related issues, contact the UTC IT Help Desk.
