Yesterday I replaced a DDS1 with an HP SureStore DAT24 (or DDS3).
The DDS1 was apparently on SCSI address 0, path was 56/52.0.0 on a 918.
The DAT24 came with default SCSI address of 3. I changed jumpers to make it
0
(Noting the warning that address 0 and 7 should not be used).
As the 918 got to the Entering system configuration boot part, it powered
off.
So I changed the SCSI address to 1, and then 918 booted successfully, with
dev 7 not available.
In SYSGEN, changed path for 7 to 56/52.1.0, and device ID. Rebooted -- also
changing ALT-BOOT Path
to 56/52.1.0, and all seems fine now.
I guess the new devices won't let you use SCSI 0.
