Application vendors are the key to the HP3000 success, customers and vendors
alike all benefit from application vendors who sell there solutions on the
HP3000. It would be in HP's best interest to start attracting more
Application Vendors like IBM did with the AS/400 when they started to pull
the plug there. Now, the AS/400 market is booming again. There is absolutely
NO REASON why the HP3000 resurgence cannot be BOOMING again too!

Application coexistence and integration of new technologies is great for the
HP3000. But, this all means nothing if the user community is shrinking due
to application solution deterioration. As a community if we intertwine our
current applications on the HP3000 with those of open systems we then come
to market with the "best of bread solutions". This is why vendors like SGA,
AMISYS, DRC and Summit are all successful on the HP3000. It is the
integration of their applications with leading edge solutions like, data
warehousing, e-business, client-server, middleware, etc...

Just a thought, I'm sure everyone else will add more thoughts!

Subject: PivotPoint/Growth Power

For the majority of listers not using Growth Power I apologize for the use
of bandwidth. Though I do believe that losing another apps vendor hurts the
whole community.

I just received a fax from PivotPoint stating that they have just been
bought by MAPICS. In this letter they discuss the fate of PivotMan, their CS
product, but they fail to mention GrowthPower their HP3000 solution. (*If
Carly won't mention the 3000 why should a mere 3rd party vendor?*) As of
this writing I do not know what their plans are but I urge all GrowthPower
users on the list to call into the customer audio conference taking place
tomorrow, Tuesday, December 21, at 2:00 PM EST (11:00 AM PST.) Let them know
that the HP3000 platform has a loyal customer base.

The number to register is 800 777-0932.

Thank you.
