I hope this is the appropriate group ...

I'm trying to switch over to Linux from WinNTW on my desktop
at work. I use a terminal emulation package known as Reflection
to connect to an HP3000 server over our network. (I'm not
sure what TCP protocol is used but it doesn't appear to be
standard telnet.)

I did find a freevt3k software package that allows me to connect
to the HP3000 and it works fine. I was told that special
software isn't necessary however and that I should just be able
to telnet to a particular TCP port (I forget the port number now).

I tried this and it didn't work. I'd prefer to use telnet if
possible. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to make it work?

Thanks
Tony Richardson
