Hi,
I guess this is an old-timer on the list; but searching the
archives didn't reveal any solutions - It's my hope that someone
may have found a solution recently.
We have this non-HP printer connected to the net via an HP
JetDirect-box. Unispool (not NPCONFIG) is used for routing the
HP 3000 print out to the JD-box via TCP/IP.
The terminal type on the HP 3000 is 18.
While it is possible to print from the HP 3000 to the printer
(it's supporting Roman-8) - every spoolfile printed - starts
with an '1L'. This is, I guess, coming from the spooler, trying
to initialize the device.
I have built a new TT-file from TT18 using TTUTIL. I included a
VFC-file, forcing 'no initialization' of the device. Changed
the setup in NMMGR; but same result, every spoolfile is printed,
but still preceded with an '1L'.
My question is: Has anybody succeeded in implementing this - or
are we still forced to wait for HP enhancing Native Print to be
able to work with non-HP printers?
Any good ideas to solve this issue? I'm not quite familiar with
Unispool yet - but maybe this product could do some
character-substitution, changing '1L' (or Esc 1 L) to null ?
Any thoughts will be highly appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance!
With kind regards,
Hans
