Rocky,
* vi and
* qedit
are the one's you're already aware of.
* a samba share to /SAMBA/PUB/conf itself, only for the samba admin user, could
become the easiest one so that you could use e.g. PFE32 (a freeware editor) or
any other PC editor.
* a freeware S/W by http://www.bb-online.de/etc/bbsat/samba_body.html (direct
link) but also this needs a samba share!
Hope that will help, best regards, Andreas Schmidt, CSC, Germany

Subject: Samba/iX -- Editting smb.conf
How do most people edit the smb.conf, and other such files, on the HP 3000?
I can never get vi to work, so I usually ftp to a PC then ftp back after
changes. I have also discovered that QEDIT allows editting of hfs file
names, but all sites don't have QEDIT.
Thanks,
