Hi,
what we found out after PP7 installation was that we had to change the Posix
permissions in general the following way:
chmod.hpbin.sys "-R o+r /usr/man/"
chmod.hpbin.sys "-R o+r /usr/lib/"
chmod.hpbin.sys "-R o+r /etc/"
and for the sake of Sendmail/iX
change file /etc/mailx.rc via vi to point to /SENDMAIL/PUB/SENDMAIL instead of
TSMAIL,
:CHMOD.HPBIN "777 /usr/mail" and :CHMOD.HPBIN "644 /etc/mailx.rc",
:LINKEDIT ALTPROG TSMAIL.HPBIN.SYS;cap=BA,IA,PH,PM
If you had a localized /etc/profile it has been overwritten as well by the HP
default one's
so that I always have a /etc/profile.local to be copied to /etc/profile
Hope that will help, best regards, Andreas Schmidt, CSC, Germany

Subject: Re: email from MPEiX -- sendmail.cf permissions
Tom Emerson writes that he cannot get Sendmail/iX to work without SM
capability:
We also found file permissions confusing....
Any time that the Sendmail/iX's configuration is changed, you have to
remember to reset the file permissions.
Finally, I moved sendmail.cf to /SENDMAIL/PUB/etc and created a link to it
in /etc.
newlink /etc/sendmail.cf /SENDMAIL/PUB/etc/sendmail.cf
Any time that the sendmail.cf may have changed, we execute the following
before starting JDAEMON:
chown SERVER.SENDMAIL /SENDMAIL/PUB/etc/sendmail.cf
chmod 0644 /SENDMAIL/PUB/etc/sendmail.cf
Likewise for aliases & majordomo.aliases
We have never tried to use MAILX. Instead we created a shell script which
runs /SENDMAIL/PUB/SENDMAIL See Mark Bixby's MAILSPF for a comprehensive
example.
Since we did this, Sendmail/iX has been wonderful.
I hope this helps
