The MPEXL_SYSTEM_VOLUME_SET should have enough spindles to enhance the
performance of the system. LDEV 1 can only be 4 GB is size, even if you use a
disk that is larger. On LDEV 1, you will have the system directory, the XM log
file for that volume set and all the files required to be able to bring the
system up as a single disk system. It will also house transient memory and
spool files. You can however and should, enable transient memory on other
drives in that volume set. I believe that transient memory can only be used on
drives in MPEXL_SYSTEM_VOLUME_SET. You can move the spool files to be on other
disks.

I would say that @[log in to unmask] and perhaps TELESUP and some other accounts should be
on that volume set. I would venture to say that 3-4 drives should be a good
start on that volume set, if you have a large system. You neglected to mention
the size of the system and the number of drives currently in use on that
system. That is critical in sizing the volume set(s).

Kind regards,

Denys. . .

Subject: Volume sets

I am considering setting up multiple volume sets on my HP 3000.
What is the recommended size of the Operating system volume set?
And what accounts should be kept in the Operating system volume set?

Thanks.
