NCAA Football YES Clinic Sat. Dec. 18 at UTC

Area children interested in improving their football skills will be able
to learn from the experts by participating in the NCAA Division 1-AA
Football YES Clinic Saturday, Dec. 18, at UTC's McClellan Gym.
The camp will be held from 8 a.m. - noon, and is open free of
charge to boys and girls age 10-18. As an added bonus, each participant
will receive a free pass to attend the Division 1-AA Football Championship
game at Finley Stadium.
Students will benefit from meeting coaches and players to learn how
to excel in sports and in life, gaining tips from top coaches and
student-athletes through hands-on experience in skill sessions specifically
geared to the ages of participants. Parent sessions on youth sports issues
will also be held.
Participating coaches include Dan Allen, Holy Cross College; Gordy
Combs, Towson University; Floyd Keith, University of Rhode Island; Steve
Gilbert, Jacksonville University; Sam Goodwin, Northwestern State; Jerry
Graybeal, Weber State University, Buddy Green, UTC; Ken LaRose, Butler
University; Jerry Moore, Appalachian State University; Ron Randleman, Sam
Houston State; Michael Sanitago, Stephen F. Austin State; and John Wright,
Hampton University.
The YES program began in 1985 and has steadily increased in
popularity . Each year YES attracts nearly 15,000 youth to approximately
24 clinics across the country. Its goals are to promote volunteerism among
collegiate coaches and student-athletes, and to provide community youth
with an opportunity to interact with them and experience an NCAA
championship.
For an application, or more information, contact Mark Swafford at
755-4064. The deadline to register is Saturday, Dec. 4.
