there is an option with Cisco routers to do some encapsulation of dtc
packets into IP packets and send them through the network and then unwrap
the packed at the other end of the router.  we do this between Springville,
UT and Edmonton Canada via a international port in Toronto.  this has been
working for 4 months with no problems in the WAN.
