Problems installing Perl/ix on MPE 6.0

Hello 3000 team.

I'm attempting to install Perl/ix on a HP3000 running mpe 6.0 - the last
message the install gives me is :

"Running /SYS/HPBIN/TAR toextract the archive1" message

I  am then prompted for
"If you want to go on, type device/file name when ready"
over and over.

This looks like some kind of problem with TAR - any way around it?

I was not sure if the installation was successful - it does not appear
to have finished as I am getting the following message I attempt to run
Perl:

<DEV> PUB.PERL:perl
The file length kept in the LST header exceeds the actual file size.
(LDRERR 622)
Native mode loader message 622
Unable to load program to be run. (CIERR 625)
<DEV> PUB.PERL:
