The drive is probably toast - had the exact same message on a drive several
weeks ago and it eventually caused a system abort. Only solution was to
replace the drive and re-build the volume set from tape. I'm afraid you are
probably in for a long day.

Subject: Disc drive problem

I am getting the following console message

Bad SYSTEM LOGICAL Sector number 0xAC5670 on ldev 33 (io_status=FFDD0071)
Filename of bad file:/AMCAS00/PUB/HPSORT2

HPSORT2 is a temporary file used by QTP

We got this error twice - second time the sector was 5690 instead of
I have placed a call to HP, but my question now is:

Can I run this process and use a file equation to redirect this temp file to
another drive? Just until HP gets here.
