In our experience here sending from NT to MPE (if you are sending from a
non-MPE system to the MPE), you should issue
type BINARY
to set the type on the client, followed by
quote TYPE L 8
to (re)set the type on the 3000.

if you are using your 3000, you can say 'bytestream'.  if you're using
reflection ftp, they call it 'tenex'.   hth   - d
