To answer your question I would need to know how many shifts your Data
center runs. You pretty much need one operator per shift. AMISYS does not
lend itself to "lights out" operations. As for System Managers one will
suffice for both your HP3000s. You may be able to get away with having the
same person be the HP-UX administrator. However, the imaging system made
need its own administrator.
AMISYS has a technical users group that could be very helpful to you. I have
forgotten how to subscribe but some friendly lister probably knows.
Best of luck,

Subject: Budget Numbers needed
We are going thru some new budget processes this year and would appreciate
some input/recommendations from the list.
We are a healthcare insurance provider (basic functions are general
business, process claims, etc.)
We have an HP997 which is our production machine running Amisys software,
and HP989 which is our pseudo-development machine and where we also do some
of our reporting etc. We have an HP9000 which we use for our imaging
systems which stores our claims images on optical jukeboxes. We have
approx. 1000 users on the production box.
We need some guideline figures for budgetary purposes for the following to
provide a 24/7/365 environment:
Recommended number of operators required in this size environment
Recommended number of HP system managers
Your input will be appreciated.
