If someone's going to do that, ask me for some notes.

We SPLash!ed an old version of EDITOR about 10 years ago (?).  (IIRC,
we gave it back to HP, along with NM QUERY, to Sam Prather)

My notes say that the performance difference was:

                               CM    OCT    SPLash!
  texting catalog.pub.sys:    6768  5685     1133    (CPU milliseconds)

and that was with absolutely no attempt at optimizing anything
(e.g., using new features of SPLash!)
