Now that's an interesting question. I don't see anything in the STORE and
TurboSTORE/iX Product manual for 5.5 about restoring to a different
directory... so if this can be done, I do not know how to do it. But if you
are using the term subdirectory informally, and just mean a newly created
thing-that-contains-files under /REVEAL, then you should be able to restore
to new group under REVEAL (unless RESTORE has a problem with restoring from
a directory to a group and I just don't know about it), and have the restore
create that group for you, assuming that there is no reason why a group
would not work just as well. Of course, if you really have to have an HFS
directory, you can hack around this by restoring to a group, then mving the
files to an HFS directory.

The headings "Creating Groups, Accounts, and Creators" and "Restoring a File
to a Different Group, Account, or Creator" in the "RESTORE Command Options"
of Chapter 11 "Restoring Files" in the "STORE and TurboSTORE/iX Products
Manual" details this:

:RESTORE *T;/REVEAL/reports/xxxxxx_xx.xxx.C;GROUP=NEW;CREATE=PATH
or
:RESTORE *T;/REVEAL/reports/xxxxxx_xx.xxx.C;GROUP=NEW;CREATE=GROUP
where NEW is the name of the new group.

The Dynaweb version of this part of the 60 manual is at
http://docs.hp.com/dynaweb/smpe/b1020/fix068/@Generic__BookTextView/13845;hf
=0, and the plain HTML version of the 55 manual is at
http://docs.hp.com/cgi-bin/doc3k/BB515190002.16173/80, then find "Creating
Groups, Accounts, and Creators" four or five screenfuls down.

Subject: Posix Files restore

Greetings,

I'm trying to find the correct syntax to restore files from a tape
which
are in the format /REVEAL/reports/xxxxxx_xx.xxx.C according to the VSTORE
listing to a newly created subdirectory under the REVEAL account. Any
information would be appreciated.

Thanks for your time,

Mike Kapsak
