One of my clients finally decided to do a Y2K check of their building
security yesterday because of today being 9/9/99 and guess what? Nobody's
badges worked anymore. I never found out if it was because of todays date
or the end of the year, but the doors are working again today.

As Joe said, I was working late and am back in working. I suggest anyone
that is
putting the things up on the List from North America is also working late
too.
Joe is right. To date there are no reported problems with 9/9/99 - that I
am aware
of anyway. I did not expect there to be but was on-hand to do the 'right
things' if
external agencies ( power ) began to experience problems. My feeling that
only
'legacy code' is likely to have such problems, and we do have some very old
code (
early 70's rpg/ksam ) running some important systems. Of these I now would
only
expect problems as users run processes that might call such date routines.
It was
highly unlikely that I, or I believe anyone would see anything at the
midnight
hour.
Hmmm...'overtime'. Down Under that word might suggest being paid for those
extra
hours. Hmmm, my boss says I should do it for the love of the job and
profession I
work in. All this love is making me tired.
Shane.
