I designed support for them into STORE (for Q-MIT), but only on the
condition that the file system support them (e.g., something
like FOPEN ("$CTUL",  dev=<your terminal's ldev>) ... because I wanted
to read/write to them like a file, not like a special-case device attached
to the terminal.  The support never materialized, so STORE never supported
them. :(
