The KIDS COUNT Data Book 1999 is an excellent source of information
concerning the status of children in the US. The 1999 data book is the
Annie E. Casey Foundation's tenth annual edition. The data books are
updated every year to help states see what areas they need to focus on for
their children's needs. The information that can be found ranges from
infant mortality rate to juvenile crime to household risk factors for
children.

KIDS COUNT is a project of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, whose mission is
to build better futures for vulnerable children. The Foundation believes
that before we can reach out and help children, we must be able to identify
them and determine what puts them at risk. The annual KIDS COUNT Data
Books count, locate, and describe the children who are in these vulnerable
circumstances so we might be able to help them in the future.

If you want more information on the KIDS COUNT Data Book 1999, previous
editions of the KIDS COUNT data books, or any other information concerning
the Annie E. Casey Foundation, you can check out the Foundation's website
at www.aecf.org.
