Re: First General Education Deadline
SEPTEMBER 15 DEADLINE FOR NEW SPRING 2000 COURSES
The last date for submitting proposals for new general education courses
for Spring 2000 is September 15. Please prepare proposals which satisfy
the requirements of both the General Education and the Curriculum
Committees, and submit 35 copies to Elizabeth Bailey in 108 Race. (Fifteen
will be sent to the General Education Committee and 20 to the Curriculum
Committee.) An authorization number to charge the copies may be obtained
from this office. Please check the General Education web page for
procedures and cover sheet (http://www.utc.edu/GeneralEd/).
New course proposals submitted by September 15 will be considered first by
the General Education Committee and then by the Curriculum Committee.
Proposal submitters will be informed of committee meeting times. Approved
proposals will be presented to the Faculty Council at its October 7
meeting. Courses approved by Faculty Council by this date will be listed
in the Spring 2000 Class Schedule.
Reminder: Departments who wish to integrate intensive writing, oral
communication, and/or computer literacy into major programs should aim to
have their plans certified in time for listing in the 2000-2001 UTC
catalog. This means that these plans should be submitted to the General
Education Committee this semester. Specific deadlines will be forthcoming.
