The United States Information Agency (USIA) has announced a competition
date of January 19, 2000 for the NIS College and University Partnership
Program.

This program allows accredited, post-secondary educational institutions to
establish international partnerships with institutions from the New
Independent States (NIS) of the former Soviet Union. Through teaching,
scholarship, and professional outreach from the partner institution, this
program supports the transition of the NIS to democratic systems based on
market economies. This program also strengthens mutual understanding and
cooperation between the U.S. and the NIS.

This program is limited to the following fields: law,
business/accounting/trade, education/continuing education/educational
administration, public administration/public policy analysis,
journalism/communications, and social, political, or economic sciences.

Grant awards will be $60,000 per year. If you are interested in
developing a proposal for this program, please contact the Office of Grants
and Program Review.
