Are you using unpowered line drivers?

All they do is convert RS-232 to RS-422
(and back again), don't they?

At the terminal end, all you should have to do is
find which pins are 15, 17, 19, & 25 are RXA, RXB,
TXA & TXB, then you could toss or re-use half your
existing line drivers.

At the DTC end, I suspect that all you have are
3-pin or 25-pin RS-232 direct connect ports.  You
would still need line drivers at that end.  If
they are modem ports you may be in luck.
