Yes, the CONSOLAN command in SYSDIAG can be used, but you must have the
proper license from HP to do it.

Basically, you're going to tell it to reset the remote console (which is the
modem).

I've used it many times and has saved me many a reboot.

If you need the syntax, then I can probably dig it up somewhere.

        Subject:        how to reset a modem on a 979

        I have a situation on a 979 with a Multi-Function Card that has a
built-in modem.  Periodically this modem hangs and needs to be reset in
order to dial in to it from the outside.  The current work around is to
reboot the system which is not practical especially if we have a large
number of users on the system.  Can the modem be reset via a MPE command
and/or utility to reset the built-in modem?

        Any guidance would be appreciated.
