Yes, we do get tornados, but at least there is some warning that conditions
are right for them and you can go underground to safety (for those who
have basements and/or cellars). Having lived in Southern California for 18
years and endured several very strong quakes (5.9 and 6.1), I prefer the
tornado to the earthquake! There's no warning of an earthquake!

At roughly 17:50 PDT, San Francisco experienced a mild earthquake.
Coincidentally or not, this was while Ken Sletten was discussing IMAGE
enhancement requests during the SIGIMAGE meeting.
Say what you will about the Midwest, at least the ground stays put :)
