Martin,

I run several large production boxes here and the only way I have time to
get a dump during a failure is to use Autorestart to dump to disk. This
takes only 30 minutes for our largest system, a 996/800 with 3GB memory, vs.
the 2 hours we used to experience when dumping to tape. It also gave me an
advantage that the system would automatically dump/reboot after a crash so
that we would not loose any time getting the system back up.

We have been using the product here for about two years now and other than
the initial installation, which was a bit cryptic and time consuming to me,
and training the operators to use "START -R NORECOVERY" I have not had any
negative experiences with it.

Subject: Autorestart (was memory failure)

We are currently looking into Autorestart/IX at this time. When I posted
last night I figured I might as well see if anyone had any clues regarding
the error messages I had on the console. I'd definitely like hear
experiences that others have had with Autorestart, both pro and con.

Thanks,
Max...
