I'd say there is, but since I disagree with you guys, it must be that I
don't understand the question ;-)

sanity check:
i)  nmmgr doesn't know the mac-adress (or??), it's typed in only in the
HPOVDTCMGR. I guess the hp uses the mac address once a connection is
established, but I don't think it is reused for every connection...
ii) we once had a problem with two dtc's with the same name (and a
serial printer), if the one hosting the printer was busy when a print
request was made, the other one responded first, causing spooler hang.
If not by name, why would the other one respond?

on the other hand, the GUI on HPOVDTCMGR isn't always clear as to wich
info is 'display stuff' and wich is true configuration stuff. What I
mean is that it's one thing what you see (what's 'configured' to be
displayed) in the 'supervising' screens and another what's configured on
the dtc (in config screens)
