If you can possibly wait until the end of the year, do so. Otherwise you will
kick yourself for not waiting.

A major jump in Notebooks is expected at that time: Geiserville technology,
100 MHz bus, 600 MHz Pentium III, etc. . .

Even if you do not buy one of these new notebooks, the prices of the current
top-of-the-line are going to fall drastically, making what is out of your range
now, quite affordable.

I am making do with my 166 MHz w/ MMX until then!

Kind regards,

Denys. . .

Subject: Off Topic: Notebook Recommendations

The time has come to replace my aging Texas Instruments P133
notebook computer. I would like to hear recommendations from
the HP3000-L readership as to which brand(s) you find to be a
good value and, if you feel like it, which brands to stay away
from.

I have a TI Extensa 660CD now, and I would like to stay in the
under-$2000 market, if at all possible.

Thanks,

Jim Phillips Manager of Information Systems
