2564B and JetDirect

Does anybody have any clues as to why a 2564B printer (with a dual interface
card) connected via centronics parallel interface to a JetDirect external
refuses to print a test page from the JetDirect.

The JetDirect doesn't sound likely because it works perfectly well with a
laserjet and the same cable. The interface card has also been swapped out,
but still dead !

The config of the 2564B is byte 23=0, 24=0, 25=0, 26=0, 29=0.
