Try to manipulate the date field

1) transform it to CHAR, when writing it to the subfile
2) then retransform it to a date, when running the wuiz

not elegant, but maybe it works

Thema: Cognos problem

I have a situation where I am going to be creating a subfile using QUIZ in
Cognos version 8.19C4 and
updating a database using QTP in Cognos version 7.29C8.

I assumed that a subfile created in 8.19 wasn't going to be readable by
7.29, so looking in the manual,
I see that format 7 is what I understand to be the type for 7.29 cognos.
So I added this to my set subfile
statement.

This works, if the subfile does not contain a date field. If there is a
date field, I get floating point overflow, fatal
error. I also tried format 3, same results.

Next I tried saying set subfile portable... This seemed to work, when I
tried a quiz in 8.19 and tried reading
it with a quiz in 7.29. Date fields worked. But I really needed a QTP,
and when I try to compile my
QTP program, the compile aborts - memory fault , fatal error.
Now I must clarify, we only have a run-time version of QTP, so we remote
compile on a different box.
And that's why I didn't just run my QTP program.

Any ideas how to transfer between 8.19 and 7.29?
