Tom,

Even with Adager for your Image dataset, you're essentially unloading
and reloading that particular dataset to decrease the capacity (with
some assumptions thrown in there :) There are two Allbase utilities out
there that perform "similar" types of functions:

. LeeTech's DB/Advisor for SQL
   http://www.leetech.com
. Bradmark's DBGeneral/SQL (used to be Flexibase/SQL)
   http://www.bradmark.com

You can also simply do an 'Unload to external' in ISQL, drop and recreate
the table (and associated information), then a 'load from external' to get
your data back. This will not be as quick as using a third party tool, but
if you don't need to perform regular maintenance on the database, this
method is very workable.

Subject: [HP3000-L] ALLBASE table sizes

If I want to change the size of a dataset in Image, I just get into
Adager and change it.

Is there any comparable way to DECREASE the size that an ALLBASE table
is using, short of unloading all the data, recreating the database, and
then reloading all the data?

I have a 3rd-party ALLBASE database for one application that is taking
up way too much space and I would like to cut down the size. I have
learned how to allocate more space when needed, but that is not the
problem.
